John Corker
Chair / Director and Financial Donor
John Corker has been a practising lawyer for 40 years and in 2019 retired as the Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Pro Bono Centre. John has worked as a senior lawyer in private, Commonwealth government and community settings and with Aboriginal organisations in Central Australia where he helped establish Imparja Television. He has lived in Thirroul since 2000 and is Secretary of the Illawarra Legal Centre, the Coledale Oysters Winter Swimming Club, a member of the Sea Shepherd Australia Advisory Panel, and a past and founding director of NITV, the National Indigenous TV Service. John holds a law degree from Monash University and a Master of Laws degree from UNSW.

Mary Jennifer Finlay

Mary has had diverse roles in the public and private sectors relating to science, international educational and vocational education at national and state levels for over 30 years. Mary has recently been working with Aboriginal Affairs NSW managing the establishment of a centre for excellence for young Aboriginal people in Western Sydney. Life prior to joining the public service in 2000 included senior roles with a state education department, a national and state peak education body as well as working in a number of community based organisations. Mary brings to her role extensive experience in project and program management, administration, financial management and people skills.

-Susan Goldie

Susan’s early career was as a lawyer with a focus on franchising and she has spent the past 25 years working in diverse roles in the community sector. After many years in the mental health sector, Susan worked in a community end of life not for profit, raising awareness about end of life issues and choice including support for dying at home. Susan has also worked with a cancer charity, delivering supportive care programs for people and their families impacted by cancer. Over the past 7 years, Susan worked with a large charity in poverty alleviation as well as its social enterprises generating revenue to fund programs tackling disadvantage. Currently Susan is leading a national initiative with The Groundswell Project to improve outcomes for Australians living well, dying well and grieving well. Susan brings expertise in the community sector, people and stakeholder skills and experience in innovation and development of social enterprise.

Jen Lysle-van Dyk
Director and Financial Donor
Jen is an award-winning communication, media, marketing and community engagement professional with more than 20 years’ experience in the local government, arts, not-for-profit and corporate sectors. A passionate advocate for empowering people, she brings creative, strategic perspectives gained from a diverse career to amplify Tender Funerals’ connection with communities. She earned her degree in Communication and Media Studies from the University of Wollongong and Certificate in Engagement from IAP2 Australasia.

Charlie Cochrane
Director and Financial Donor
Charlie Cochrane is an ethnographic and qualitative research consultant in Australia. He has over 30 years experience in qualitative and ethnographic research and advertising in both the UK and Australia He has an MA in anthropology from Cambridge University and has trained in psychotherapy for professionals at Spectrum in London. He has conducted many research projects for government, service organisations and blue chip companies on household name products such as Nescafe, Campbells and Colgate as well as working in service design. He has also taught ethnography units to MBA students at UNSW and NTU in Singapore.

Hilary Hannam

Hilary Hannam has been in the law for over 25 years and since 2000 has been a judicial officer in NSW, the NT and for the Commonwealth. She is now a Judge of the Family Court of Australia. Hilary has a particular interest in the law as it relates to children.
Hilary has undertaken voluntary roles including as Board Member or Director for a number of not-for-profit organisations in the early education, medical research, arts and homelessness sectors.
Hilary brings to the role as Director her experience and expertise in board governance in the not-for-profit sector in the exciting years ahead for Tender Funerals Australia.

Tony Berriman

Tony has practiced as a finance lawyer at national law firm Minter Ellison for more than 30 years, principally in corporate, project and real estate finance, acting for a range of financiers, arrangers, borrowers and sponsors. He has been a partner at the firm since 1990.
Tony currently heads the firm’s Real Estate Finance practice and brings his considerable experience to his role as a Director. He is recognised as a leading individual banking and finance lawyer by the key lawyer directories such as Chambers Global, Legal 500 Asia Pacific
and Best Lawyers.
Tony holds Bachelor of Commerce and Laws degrees from UNSW and a Master of Laws degree from Sydney University..
