Sadly, ALK+ lung cancer cut John’s life short on 13 August 2026.

John was born in Sydney and graduated Kinross Wolaroi School in Orange, NSW. His move to Canberra in the 80’s brought him to the Department of Veterans’ Affairs where he served veterans and the government for almost 35 years. John found time to volunteer as the secretary for the Uni-Norths Owls rugby club and as the board chair for both Community Options and former Alzheimer’s ACT.

John loved to ride his mountain bike at Mount Stromlo, golf and spend time with family and friends sharing food, drink, stories and laughs.

John is survived by his wife of 20 years, Jayne, sons Matthew (Imogen) and Benjamin (Sophie), his brother Rick and sister Trina, nieces/nephews and extended Kiss family in Miskolc Hungary.
