Tender FAR NORTH QUEENSLAND

At Tender Funerals, we believe funerals and funeral care should be meaningful, authentic, and affordable.

Who Are We?

Tender Funerals is a not-for-profit funeral service that ensures that those experiencing financial hardship/distress are able to access personalised, meaningful and affordable funerals. We also provide community education and empowerment around after death care.

We provide a full range of services across after death care, funeral/celebration arrangements and body disposal options – many based on sustainable principles – which enable you to have a much greater say in how your loved one is treated after death. We encourage practices that promote healing.

A community venture, we operate in ways that do not leave community members with large debt. We don’t take shortcuts and always put people and relationships first.

Where Are We Up To?

 How Can I Support Tender?

Tender Funerals would greatly appreciate any kind of support,  financial or otherwise.
Tender Funerals Far North Queensland (TFFNQ) is not yet offering funeral services, however the Board of TFFNQ is continuing to make good progress towards the goal of establishing a Tender Funerals social franchise in the Cairns region.  The Board currently consists of 7 Directors and is incorporated under ASIC as a Company Limited by Guarantee. TFFNQ is also ACNC registered, with PBI and DGR status. The Board is supported by a dedicated group of volunteers, who meet regularly to support ongoing development.

This year, our focus has been on a number of key areas including; building community networks and awareness, grant writing and fundraising to raise start-up capital, volunteer recruitment and coordination, and site search.

We are making great progress and have achieved some significant milestones in the past 12 months including;
      • Signing the Tender Funerals Australia Franchise Agreement.
      • Receiving grants from AMP’s Tomorrow Fund ($100,000) and Queensland Community Foundation ($3,000).
      • Receiving a cooling plate, kindly donated by a local supporter, which can now be used in the Cairns community.
      • Being able to supply Daisy Boxes locally for minimal cost.
      • Being invited to present at the Western Cape Future’s Symposium, held at Weipa in March.
We continue to strive towards our goal of bringing Tender Funerals to Far North Queensland, and are grateful for the ongoing assistance from our local supporters and Tender Funerals Australia.
