At Tender Funerals, we believe funerals and funeral care should be meaningful, authentic, and affordable.

Who Are We?

Tender Funerals is a not-for-profit funeral service that ensures that those experiencing financial hardship/distress are able to access personalised, meaningful and affordable funerals. We also provide community education and empowerment around after death care.

We provide a full range of services across after death care, funeral/celebration arrangements and body disposal options – many based on sustainable principles – which enable you to have a much greater say in how your loved one is treated after death. We encourage practices that promote healing.

A community venture, we operate in ways that do not leave community members with large debt. We don’t take shortcuts and always put people and relationships first.

How Can I Support Tender?

Tender Funerals would greatly appreciate any kind of support, financial or otherwise.

GET INVOLVED

Tender Funerals Geelong is still in the early stages of formation and are currently looking to widen our initial working group. We welcome anyone and everyone who has the time and enthusiasm to support this project, especially people with skills and experience in specific areas (see below).

Once a strong working group is formed, our primary aims will be to survey the community about the need for Tender Funerals in our area, seek out local business partnerships and investigate and obtain local community grants. Initially, we would be seeking funds to employ a community activator who would be able to dedicate concentrated time to get this project off the ground.

What Do We Need?

Funding partnerships and Volunteers

We need people to volunteer their time who have skills in the following areas: finance and accounting, legal support, administration, real estate, architects, construction, community development and engagement, project management, fundraising, marketing and media, and of course, the funeral industry.

Tender Funerals, established in 2016, is Australia’s first franchised non-profit funeral service, providing services on an at-cost pricing model, enabling families to have an authentic and affordable funeral service without going into large amounts of debt.

In 2020, Tender Funerals Australia was established, with the sole purpose to support communities to establish a Tender Funerals service in their own areas.
