At Tender Funerals, we believe funerals and funeral care should be meaningful, authentic, and affordable.
Who Are We?
Tender Funerals is a not-for-profit funeral service that ensures that those experiencing financial hardship/distress are able to access personalised, meaningful and affordable funerals. We also provide community education and empowerment around after death care.
We provide a full range of services across after death care, funeral/celebration arrangements and body disposal options – many based on sustainable principles – which enable you to have a much greater say in how your loved one is treated after death. We encourage practices that promote healing.
A community venture, we operate in ways that do not leave community members with large debt. We don’t take shortcuts and always put people and relationships first.

What we will need later:

A property for our funeral home – if you have land or a building (for donation, sale or low-cost rent) that we could use, please contact us.

Property development – real estate expertise, planning and compliance, architecture and design, builders, trades people, landscapers, gardeners.

2 vehicles – Hyundai iLoad or similar. Donors for these would be greatly appreciated and will benefit our start-up service needs.

Tender Funerals, established in 2016, is Australia’s first franchised non-profit funeral service, providing services on an at-cost pricing model, enabling families to have an authentic and affordable funeral service without going into large amounts of debt.
In 2020, Tender Funerals Australia was established, with the sole purpose to support communities to establish a Tender Funerals service in their own areas.
