Annie Fogarty

After 20 years of walking alongside the people of my community as a yoga teacher, childbirth educator and doula, I began my journey of caring for bereaved families in the private funeral industry in 2016. I have extensive experience in paediatric funeral care, having supported many families following the loss of a baby.

I am dedicated to family and community-led care and look forward to this option becoming accessible to the broader community.

Malia Dewse

I have recently retired from a long career in the Victoria Public Service and not-for-profit organisations where I worked largely in education and addressing violence against women. I now support individuals and families to undertake holistic end-of-life planning with a focus on their specific priorities. During my working life, as well as in my many voluntary roles and board memberships, have always included a focus on activities that support, empower and drive connection between individuals and communities and that value and incorporate diversity. I’m delighted to be on the board of Tender Funerals Greater Eastern Melbourne where I can use my experience and skills to support a more death-literate culture and an accessible, tailored and compassionate approach to the practical activities following the death of a loved one.

Michele Osterhoudt

After working in a diverse range of fields – including corporate communications, hospitality, event management, tourism, community-based not-for-profits and education – I recently discovered that I come alive when working in the death industry. I completed my End-of-Life Doula training with Preparing the Way in October 2021, followed in March 2022 by my Funeral Celebrant training with Celebrants Training College. People – the human being in every equation – are my priority, and I am excited to be working in an organisation that operates with kindness as its compass. Helping to develop a community not-for-profit that offers affordable, meaningful, and authentic funerals and funeral care spoke to my heart. I look forward to helping Tender Funerals Greater Eastern Melbourne become a reality.

Liz Beardall

My career has focused on the development of communities through the planning and delivery of facilities and services that meet diverse community needs.  I have over 30 years’ experience in Local and State government managing Leisure, Arts, Libraries and Community services portfolios working at both strategic and operational levels. I’ve also worked in the Not for Profit and Corporate sectors and ran a consultancy business.  I am passionate about making a difference to the health and wellbeing of individuals and local communities.  What I look forward to as a Director with Tender Funerals is contributing to the development of this innovative model of death care.
