Moving with Grief is a new initiative in the Hastings and the Macleay supporting community members who are experiencing loss and grief with free monthly yoga, gentle movement, meditation, sound healing and guided relaxation sessions.
This initiative will contribute to our after-care program, which provides support to families who have used Tender’s services. However, all offerings are open to anyone in the community who is experiencing loss and grief. Grief comes in many different shapes and doesn’t always involve the death of a person close to us. We can grieve the loss of friendships, changes around our work or purpose. Everyone is welcome to participate in this program, regardless of the nature of their grief.
Each session will start with 1-hr session of a healing practice followed by afternoon tea. Previous experience is not required. All sessions will be accessible to anyone regardless of age and limitations.
In this session “Nourish Your Nervous System”, Megan and Joh from Inner World Village, will create a journey that is both unique and complex for each person. Meditation, mindfulness, and intentional sound journeys are effective tools for grounding and self-soothing as we navigate the ups and downs of living with loss.
This guided meditation and sound journey is dedicated to deep relaxation and nervous system nourishment through the healing power of group sound healing. The small group environment encourages safety, allowing participants to fully immerse themselves in a communal experience of healing. Sound, in this case, acts as medicine. The frequencies chosen for this session are intended to quiet the mind, allowing participants to enter a state of ‘rest and repair.’ As heart rate and breathing slow, the nervous system receives relief, creating an ideal condition for physical, emotional, and mental healing to unfold.
