At Tender Funerals, we believe funerals and funeral care should be meaningful, authentic, and affordable.

Who Are We?

Tender Funerals is a not-for-profit funeral service that ensures that those experiencing financial hardship/distress are able to access personalised, meaningful and affordable funerals. We also provide community education and empowerment around after death care.

We provide a full range of services across after death care, funeral/celebration arrangements and body disposal options – many based on sustainable principles – which enable you to have a much greater say in how your loved one is treated after death. We encourage practices that promote healing.

A community venture, we operate in ways that do not leave community members with large debt. We don’t take shortcuts and always put people and relationships first.

Tender Funerals Perth was established with the goal of empowering people to play a greater role in the care of their family, friends and community members who are dying or who have died. We believe that the Perth community should have the option of choosing a not-for-profit funeral provider and that everyone, regardless of financial hardship or cultural background, deserves  to have funeral services that are meaningful and affordable. We are not yet able to offer funeral services, but have a dedicated working group that is taking progressive steps to set up this new venture!
 
Our working group held a series of Death Literacy community events where people were able to discuss end of life wishes, family conversations and funeral practices in a safe and supported environment.  These conversations made clear to us that West Australians lack trust in the funeral industry and want more choice, transparency and ownership of a practice that impacts us all at some time.

 

What Do We Need?

Tender Funerals Perth welcomes offers of financial or in kind support. We are currently seeking:
        • Volunteers skilled in social media management and marketing; fundraising or grant writing
        • Volunteer skilled in leading and garnering community support for starting a new not-for-profit
        • Philanthropic and corporate partnerships
        • Financial donations
        • Offers of land, buildings and infrastructure to support establishment of a funeral service
Tender Funerals Perth is endorsed as a Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR). Donations of $2 or more are tax deductible in Australia.

Tender Funerals, established in 2016, is Australia’s first franchised non-profit funeral service, providing services on an at-cost pricing model, enabling families to have an authentic and affordable funeral service without going into large amounts of debt.

In 2020, Tender Funerals Australia was established, with the sole purpose to support communities to establish a Tender Funerals service in their own areas.
